Environmental Health Officer
We have a unique opportunity to appoint an Environmental Health Officer to join our busy Food Health section. We are looking for an enthusiastic team worker who will have the opportunity to influence an evolving service and is committed, flexible, capable of working on their own initiative and able to meet targets.
You should have a degree in Environmental Health and be EHORB registered. We will consider applications from newly or shortly to be qualified officers. Experience with computerised record systems including the normal office applications is desirable. A current valid driving licence and the use of a car are essential.
You will not find a better place to gain a wide range of experience in the fields of food safety, port health, imported food control or approved premises, as North East Lincolnshire has an international reputation as a centre for food manufacturing and trade.
You will be responsible for the full range of food safety enforcement in a range of environments – from the seasonal businesses on the coast to a broad range of approved establishments, including major retailer suppliers – as well as infectious disease control and complaint investigation. You will also be required to contribute to our port health duties including imported food control at our Border Inspection Post, which involves some physical activity such as manual handling of food products. The imported food control work will require the successful candidate to gain the additional qualification of Official Fish Inspector. The role would also include enforcement of international health legislation on visiting vessels to the ports of Grimsby and Immingham.
