A new opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Case Worker; personal advisor, (with a primary; but not exclusive responsibility to work with UASC; Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children) 

To be based in our Throughcare Service in the Civic offices in Cleethorpes. This appointment is for a post with a focus on working with young people aged 16 to 25 (although may include some work with under 16’s) who are in the process of seeking “Asylum/Leave to remain” in the UK, having arrived in the UK from various countries of origin. 

This role will involve holding a mixed caseload of children/young people, and will also be an element of advisory role to colleagues in relation to matters relating to immigration and asylum. 

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated individual able to work either independently with young people/carers or as part of a team. We are seeking an applicant who has the commitment, knowledge and skill to develop this role, which will also include following Home Office guidance and best practice, assisting with appropriate “age assessments”, including ; supporting young people through leave to remain interviews, pathway planning, and sourcing and supporting accommodation and access to learning. 

The successful applicant will have an ability to work in partnership with other services including Customs and Excise, and the Home Office. 

Induction, regular supervision, and access to ongoing relevant training will be given to the successful applicant. 

Knowledge of current legislation relating to Looked After Children and Care Leavers is required, along with a relevant experience of working with young people and families, also the ability to work to and apply the values of social work. Ability to prepare reports and has relevant IT skills. 

Qualifications; Evidence of a relevant experience/s and qualifications in regards to children and families is a requirement of this application. 

Experience; At least two years’ experience working in a health, educational, social care or voluntary setting with young people under 24 years of age.

Direct work with voluntary, private or statutory sector relating to children and young adults.

Has worked as part of a team. 

This post carries a requirement to work unsocial hours and some weekend hours. Essential car user allowance and access to own vehicle.
